What is Sheltered Instruction?
Sheltered English Instruction is a teaching method designed to help English Language Learners (ELLs) access grade-level academic content in English by providing additional support and modifying language delivery to make the material more comprehensible, while still focusing on learning the subject matter itself; essentially, “sheltering” them from the full complexity of English language until they are ready to fully engage with it.
